Made with the goodness of oats, fresh vegetables, and aromatic spices, oats chilla is a savory Indian pancake that’s as nutritious as it is flavorful. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or an evening snack, it’s a versatile dish that suits all occasions.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup curd
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1/4 teaspoon garam masala
- Salt to taste
- Oil for cooking
- 1/4 cup chopped tomatoes
- 1/4 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili powder/chopped green chillies
Instructions
Grind Oats: In a blender, grind the rolled oats into a fine flour. Mix Batter: In a bowl, combine the oat flour, curd, water, onions, tomatoes, cumin seeds, red chili powder, garam masala, and salt. Mix well until you have a smooth batter.
Cook Chilla: Heat a non-stick tawa (use dosa tava) on medium heat. Pour a ladleful of batter onto the tawa and spread it evenly to form a thin circle( like me make uttapa or dosa)
Cook: Cook until the chilla is golden brown on both sides and the edges are crisp. You can add a little oil to the tawa if needed. Serve: Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.

Tips: For a thicker chilla, add more oats or reduce the water. You can add grated vegetables like carrots ,capsicum etc.
